Until Further Notice:Help Warehouse, a program of Lower Columbia CAP, is asking for donations of paper bags. CAP uses 600 bags each month for its USDA Commodities program, a federally funded food supplement program for low-income families and seniors. The commodities are bagged and delivered to 14 distribution sites in Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties on the third Tuesday of each month. Paper bags can be dropped off at the CAP building, 1526 Commerce Avenue in Longview, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The Volunteer Group at the Kelso Train Depot is welcoming aboard new volunteers willing to help staff the depot during business hours.

There are three four-hour shifts at the train depot every day of the week.

Anyone 21 years of age and older are welcome to volunteer.

Applications for depot volunteering are available for pick-up at the train depot.

There is no cost for foster parents or low-income families.

The Lower Columbia College Head Start , Early Head Start, and ECEAP Programs have begun enrolling students for fall classes. The programs provide free services to income eligible pregnant women and children from birth through age 4. Enrollment information is available by calling 360-442-2800. Rainier Columbian Cheerleaders are hosting ‘The Columbian Saturday Market’ This is an indoor ‘Direct Sales Mall’, a showcase for local artists and crafters to sell their creations, as well as local farmers to sell in season produce and market items. The first 2 will be April 22nd, and May 13th, after that they will be held on the 3rd Saturday of the month through December. Hours are 10a-5p, located in the Rainier Jr/Sr High School Commons area, 28170 Old Rainier Rd. in Rainier,OR

There will be concessions throughout the day and a variety of school clubs and organizations represented as well.

R.A. Long Class of 1977 is having their 40th Reunion Friday & Saturday August 4th and 5th.

August 4th @ 6pm, the 1977 class will meet at Mill City Grill on Commerce Avenue.

On August 5th @ 6pm, Tapas right next door @ 1125 Commerce will be the reunion site, which will feature a live Seattle artist.

The cost is $40 for singles, and $75 for couples.

Funds raised will benefit our community. This is a 21 and over event and admission is five dollars per person.

 

It’s the World Famous Rainier Days in the Park, Friday July 7th thru Sunday July 9th. Enjoy family fun all three days! The Crusaders Relay for Life will be having bingo on Saturday, July 15th at 1pm,hosted by the Longview Eagles @ 1526 12th Avenue. Kids 8 and up are welcome for this session. They will be having prize give-aways, a 50/50 drawing and the kitchen will be ope. If there are enough players, a speed bingo session will follow. Callers will be Todd and Lynn from the old Northern Lights Bingo Hall. All money raised will go to support the American Cancer Society.
