Until Further Notice:Help Warehouse, a program of Lower Columbia CAP, is asking for donations of paper bags. CAP uses 600 bags each month for its USDA Commodities program, a federally funded food supplement program for low-income families and seniors. The commodities are bagged and delivered to 14 distribution sites in Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties on the third Tuesday of each month. Paper bags can be dropped off at the CAP building, 1526 Commerce Avenue in Longview, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The Volunteer Group at the Kelso Train Depot is welcoming aboard new volunteers willing to help staff the depot during business hours.
There are three four-hour shifts at the train depot every day of the week.
Anyone 21 years of age and older are welcome to volunteer.
Applications for depot volunteering are available for pick-up at the train depot.

|The Longview Recreation Robotics Club is now registering 9 to 14 year olds for their First LEGO League teams. The 2019 season, City Shaper, starts August 1st. Contact the Recreation department for registration. The cost is $40 for the season, August to December. During the season, teams will build a LEGO EV3 robot and program it to perform specific mission on the City Shaper field. They will also create and present a solution for a future city problem. The teams will meet weekly to be prepared for their competition in December. They will follow a set of FIRST Core Values that includes Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork and Fun. The Great Columbia Crossing 10K run/walk is Sunday, October 13th! This once-a-year opportunity to walk across the Astoria-Megler Bridge is for both competitive runners and families alike. Local Trio ‘Cool Water’ is celebrating 40 years making music together with a Fall Concert @ Emmanual By The Lake, 2218 East Kessler Boulevard in Longview.

Registration is free and can be picked up @ Hometown Pizza.

Longview Church of Christ is having a Trunk or Treat Event @ the church building, 2219 50th Avenue in Longview on Halloween night Thursday, October 31st from 5-7p. They will be serving free hot dogs and chips along with refreshments.
Longview Church of Christ will also be hosting a ‘Jamaica Me Crazy Bazaar’ on Saturday December 7th from 9a-3p.
Bake sale items will be avaialable to purchase.
The tables are $20 per table and the proceeds from the table rentaland bake sale support the church’s 2020 Mission Trip to Jamaica.

Kelso First Baptist Church is having its annual Trunk or Treat this year.
It is on October 31st from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. It is free to the community, and will be serving warm food inside the church for people to enjoy as well.
The next evening session of the AARP Smart Driver class will be held at the Longview Senior Center, 1111 Commerce Ave., on Wednesday and Thursday, October 23rd & 24th , 2019, from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. The instructor will be Hal Mahnke. Attendees will get a refresher course on their driving skills as well as learn about changes in traffic laws and a whole lot more. This is an all-classroom session with no actual driving. A certificate will be issued at the end of the course to all participants who complete the 8-hour course. The AARP Smart Driver certificate qualifies drivers over age 55 for a State mandated discount on their automobile insurance. The cost to attend is $20. If you are an AARP member, it is only $15 with your AARP member card. The fee is collected in the classroom the first night of class. If you are interested in attending, call the Longview Senior Center at 360-636-0210 to register. The class is limited to 20 participants.
